Quan-zhi Ye (カリフォルニア工科大学)の通報によると、5月9.5日UT、Palomarにある1.2-m
f/2.4 Oschin Schmidt望遠鏡のZTF Cameraで得たCCD画像から彗星を発見した。
この彗星は、相当集光しており、p.a. 約270°に向かって約10"〜15"の扇型の尾がある。
小惑星センターのPCCP webpageに公表後、Yeは、4月27.5日UT、発見前のPalomarイメージが
あるのを見つけた。r光度は17.8等。p.a. 270°に向かって12"の尾が存在した。
他に、 K. SarneczkyとB. Cseh (Konkoly天文台, 0.60-m Schmidt望遠鏡, Piszkesteto,
ハンガリー; 5月11日、60秒露出6枚のスタック、フィルターなしのCCDイメージで、8"〜10"の
拡散したコマと、p.a. 290°に約14"〜16"伸びた非常にかすかな尾がある)らCCD位置観測者に
よって彗星状と観測された。

This object was reported as a comet by Q.-Z. Ye (I41, May 9), who
described it as having a fan-shape 10"-15" tail towards P.A. ~270.
K. Sarneczky and B. Cseh (K88, May 11) reported a diffuse 8"-10" coma and a
very faint 14"-16" tail in P.A. 290. S. Gajdos (118, May 11) noted a
condensed 8"x10" coma, elongated in P.A. 290-300. Other reports follow:
