Reports from Geisei Observatory <November 15, 2018>

A photographic image of C/2018 V1 (Machholz-Fujikawa-Iwamoto)

I took photographs of Comet Machholz-Fujikawa-Iwamoto) at 5 am on November 15. Its beautiful coma glowing greenish surprised me. The nucleus is faintly visible, too, but the tail is not seen yet. It is at the ninth magnitude, easily visible in the 15cm telescope. It will move southward at a low altitude of 15 degrees, possible to observe till the end of the year. Its parabolic orbit will not bring it back eternally.
