Reports from Geisei Observatory <February 7, 2010>


29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann and 81P/Wild

    The following are the observations of two recent periodic comets. Both comets are visually observable.
    29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann seems to have brightened rapidly quite recently. It displays a perfectly round beautiful coma, which is 26" in diameter. The bright star near the comet is a 14th-magnitude star in Leo.
    81P/Wild shows a short but complex tail. It is located low in the morning sky.
