Reports from Geisei Observatory <June 29, 2009>

P/2009 L2 (Yang-Gao)

The following is the observation of P/2009 L2 (Yang-Gao). It was observed during precious few clear moments in the rainy season.
As Geisei's 70cm telescope has slow optics (f/7), the photographic image of a comet is almost stellar. As this comet was discovered by a small camera, it may appear as a diffused nebula if photographed with a fast lens. At the next chance, I will try with the 21cm f/3 Epsilon. Since the comet passed perihelion on May 21, it has been becoming fainter gradually.
