Reports from Geisei Observatory <February 3, 2009>

210P/Christensen, C/2007 N3 (Lulin), C/2008 X3 (LINEAR), and C/2008 A1 (McNaught)

The following are the results of the recent observations at Geisei. I photographed only with a film camera, as a CCD and digital camera were unavailable. The approaching comet C/2007 N3 (Lulin) is visually estimated to be at 8th magnitude. The coma is barely visible in binoculars.
C/2008 X3 is faint. Even with the 70cm telescope it is close to the limit of film photography.
In the near future, Geisei's "secret weapon" will be brought out. You will be surprised to find out what it is. It has served for many decades as the "treasure" of Geisei Observatory.
