C/2005 W2 (Christensen) and C/2005 W3 (Kowalski)
Recently discovered comets are all faint.
On the morning of November 28 I searched the sky around Leo.
All the familiar galaxies were clearly visible. With a field width of 2.5
degrees at 25x, an overlap of half the field of view would be sufficient
by sweeping vertically. If comets brighter than 10th magnitude are targeted,
a one-third overlap would be satisfactory. Mr. Minoru Honda in his late
years did fairly quick sweeping horizontally targeting comets brighter
than 8th magnitude. In case of my discovery of Comet Seki in October, 1961,
I swept twilight sky quite fast using the 9cm refractor at 17x. The comet
was 7th to 8th magnitude.
The following are the results of my observation of the recently
discovered faint comets by the 60cm reflector:
