Reports from Geisei Observatory <April 15, 2005>

• P/2005 GF8 (LONEOS) and C/2005 G1 (LINEAR)
The following are Geisei's recent observational results of the two rather faint comets.
I am grateful for Mr. Hirohisa Sato's help in checking O-C. I am very careful about observational results because I don't want to send reports to IAU containing errors . Errors in the measurement below will be within a maximum of 1".
C/2005 G1 looks more sharply defined and better photographed than P/2005 GF8. GF8 is diffuse and difficult to measure. Although good weather is continuing at Geisei, the sky glow caused by streetlights is aggravated by typical springtime dust blown over from China as well as pollens and haze. Under this condition I have a hard time to photograph faint comets.

The apparition of a bright new comet may not be too far.
