Reports from Geisei Observatory <February 1, 2005>


• C/2003 K4 (LINEAR) and C/2004 Q2 (Machholz)
    C/2003 K4 is estimated to be at 9.8 magnitude with the coma about 1.5' in diameter in the 20cm refractor at 60x. C/2004 Q2 crossed the Milky Way near Perseus to the north and looks to the naked eye shining at 4.8 magnitude. The tail looks very faint even in the 60cm reflector.
