Report from Geisei Observatory <February 13, 2002>

• Nova V838 in Monoceros
Photos of this nova were taken on monochrome and color film on February 12.
The position is given below. The magnitude is approximately 8.0.
     7h04m04s.83
    -3o50'50".6 (2000)
This nova seems to show strange rises and falls in brightness. What color will it show in color photos taken by Geisei's 60cm-f/3.5 telescope, which will be presented later? The star images taken by this telescope are very sharp.
