Reports from Geisei Observatory<July 5, 2000>

• C/1999 S4(LINEAR)
Fine weather continues. LINEAR was photographed for a 10-minute exposure. The comet has become more impressive. The magnitude was 6.8 and the tail was longer than 30'. The question now is if it will be a naked-eye object at the closest approach on July 26. I hope I can show you color photos of this comet next.
