外見状小惑星状天体として発見されたが、特異な動きのため、NEO Confirmation Pageに
公表され、12月7.4日UTごろに得られたCCD画像から彗星とわかった。
D. T. Durig (Cordell-Lorenz天文台、0.3-m Schmidt-Cassegrain + CCD)の観測では、25″
のコマがある。CCD全光度15.5等。P. R. Holvorcem と M. Schwartz (Tenagra II Obs.、 
0.81-m反射＋CCD)の観測では、約10″の拡散状したコマとP.A.約300°に尾の気配がある。
G. Hug、R. Valentineと B. Leifer (Farpoint天文台、0.30-m 反射)の観測では拡散状。
