Reports from Geisei Observatory<October 4, 1999>


• C/1999 S4(LINEAR), C/1999 S3(LINEAR)
The 60cm telescope captured C/1999 S4(LINEAR). The coma is about 15". The comet is small without a bright tail. The deviation from the IAU's initial provisional orbit is about 15". In July 2000 the comet will come closest to the earth at a distance of 0.3 A.U. with a magnitude being 3 or 4. The diameter will be 5-10' in a disk shape. It will not become a great comet.
