The comet is very diffuse and the nucleus is fainter than magnitude 17. Visually it may be around 13. In mid-April, I will be able to show you photographs of the comet brightening. However, at the moment, the comet is seen in moonlight and low in the southern sky through mist.


• C/1998 P1(Williams) has become very faint. In a photograph taken on April 18, m1 was 18.5.
