Reports from Geisei Observatory <August 13, 2009>

C/2008 Q3 (Garradd) and C/2009 O4 (Hill)

We had the finest weather in many days. The clouds shine brilliant white and blue sky was extremely transparent. Weather dramatically turned around from skies with a lot of clouds like an extended rainy season to a sky so clear that the end of the rainy season could be officially declared. Naturally, the stars were shining brightly and I could observe C/2009 Q3 so low on the western horizon it would normally be unobservable.
I looked for Perseid meteors, but I saw only one first-magnitude meteor. I must have missed the peak of this meteor shower.
