Reports from Geisei Observatory<December 1, 2002>

• Geisei's 60cm reflector and computers are now restored
On the evening of November 30, Mr. Kenji Muraoka and Mr. Shigeo Shimomoto came to repair the PCs. Mr. Muraoka replaced the CD-ROM drive on the MS-DOS PC which is used for cometary calculations. The GSC star charts are usable now again. The other computer , a Windows PC, had a hard disk problem which made the Comet Section's HP difficult to read. Thanks to Mr. Shimomoto's time-consuming work, it is now back to normal. I am grateful to both gentlemen.

Geisei's 60cm reflector was temporarily repaired with substitute replacement parts. As a result, fast slewing in declination has become very slow and the gear noise very loud. However, I may have to live with these problems for a while. Calculations of the objects observed soon after the repairs were made using GSC. Please replace the previous data of C/2001 Q4 with today's data.

54P/de Vico-Swift-NEAT is very faint photographically. It may be much brighter in CCD images.

18D/Perrine-Mrkos will be last observed in December this time around.
