Reports from Geisei Observatory <February 7, 2002>

• 96P/Machholz 1
96P/Machholz 1 brightened to the 2nd magnitude when crossing the sun's disk. We captured it in the morning eastern sky at Geisei. Although it was observed between the trees in the east of the observatory, the position should be accurate. The tail is 1' long in the northwest.
