June 2001 <Objects in June>

Antares, Mars, and M8

Mars has become much redder. I attempted these photos in early June using a 105mm-telephoto lens on ISO 400 film. The upper photo was taken with a stationary camera with a 5-minute exposure and the lower photo with a guided exposure of 10 minutes. In the latter the Milky Way shows up quite well and it looks as if the light from Mars reflected on it. Mars, side by side with M8, was quite impressive.
