This comet was discovered on July 13, 1999 in Australia. It moved north
rapidly and in late July, it became visible from Japan. As of August 9,
1999, it is visible at magnitude 7 in the northwestern sky in the evening.
This photo was taken on the evening of August 9, 1999 by Geisei's 60cm
reflector with a 4-minute exposure. It shows a beautiful, shining white
coma. |
