This comet was simultaneously discovered in Kochi City and Arizona on the
night of February 4, 1962. It made an usually close approach to the sun
on April 1, less than 0.1 A.U. from the sun, and showed complex changes
in its tail. This was described in my book "Searching for Unknown
Stars." In mid-April this comet was a spectacular object moving slowly
in the evening western sky for some time. This is one of the few available
photographs of this comet. |
